Dr. Steve Rubin was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Colorado State University College of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences from which he graduated in 1999.  Dr. Rubin practiced emergency and critical care medicine for 8 years before founding the Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology, a veterinary nursing school in 2007.  Dr. Rubin served as a faculty member the Chief Executive Officer for 17 years before returning to private practice in 2023. 

Dr. Rubin is a proud father and husband, mountain climbing and trail running enthusiast, USTA tennis league and tournament participant, avid home cook, crazed hockey and baseball fan, and has two furry feline children named TidBit and Opie.
